Piatra Craiului National Park

Piatra Craiului National Park is located near the town of Zărneşti, in Brașov County, and is renowned for its impressive mountain scenery. Established in 1990, this park covers an area of approximately 15,000 hectares and is an integral part of the Southern Carpathians. Here, visitors can explore a unique biodiversity, featuring rare species of plants and animals, as well as remarkable geological formations.

The hiking trails in the park vary from those easily accessible for families to more challenging routes that require good physical preparation. One of the most popular trails leads to the peak of Piatra Craiului, where the panorama of the surroundings is truly breathtaking. Additionally, from Zărneşti, one can easily reach various points of interest, such as the Zărnești Gorges, an ideal spot for climbing.

Besides hiking activities, Piatra Craiului National Park also offers opportunities for wildlife observation, including bears, wolves, and deer. In the warm season, the coniferous forests and alpine pastures are filled with wildflowers, creating a beautiful tableau.
